I am unaware of any death penalty State which does not curretly have an allowance for victim family members to witness the execution. As to how many of the survivors actually take the opportuity varies on a case by case basis. Recently Va had to turn people away who wished to witness the Muhammed execution for lack of space , a week later there were no survivors wishing to view the execution of Elliott.
Your impression of the antis is correct....they'll gladly tell anyone how sweet their pal on the row is. There are a large number of respectable antis in the world who despite their oposition to the penalty feel true sympathy for the survivors.....unfortunately the idots of the movement draw all the attention.
